Isla Canela Golf

The Isla Canela Golf course is
situated within a Nature Reserve where the river Guadiana empties into
the Atlantic Ocean. It’s beautiful location and the mild climate
of the region make it an ideal destination for golfing all year around.
The most south western course in Spain, it is only 15 minutes by car
from the Portuguese Algarve border.
The course, designed by Juan
Catarineu, is successfully integrated into existing flat terrain and is
very comfortable to walk. Wide fairways run between natural dunes and
many trees – oranges, olives, eucalyptuses and palms- have been
introduced not only to enhance the location but, by their position, to
provide natural hazards. At first sight it looks like an easy golf
course, but it has its hidden difficulties!
The fairways are beautifully
manicured and the greens are flat and true year round, offering even
the average player the chance of a little backspin and stopability! The
attractive club house caters to golfers every need, and there is a
permanent golf school as well as a golf shop, a bar and a restaurant.
There is also a swimming pool and two bowling greens next to a
beautiful terrace on which to sit and relax. The clubhouse offers good
Spanish tapas as well as a conventional menu.
